You have an extra U2 ticket...

Concerts and events are all about experiences, but what happens when you have a last minute, 1 extra ticket, and you are at the MSG Sphere, what do you do with it?

1 Ticket is all about what you do with that ticket - to give to it away for free and gain a story for life.

This is about how to create life stories, experiences, of how like minded people, from around the world, give serendipity a chance and the enjoyment to share experiences with a complete stranger and with the one thing in common, being a U2 fan.

If you have been to a U2 concert, especially with a GA area, you know these events attract a certain crowd. These are the folks I want to hear their stories, their passion on why they travel to see this show.

From new friends to familiar faces its the people who truly make concerts such an experience. These are the stories I want to record.

When you give me your extra ticket, I’ll interview you for the 1 Ticket

THE INSPIRATION

IT ALL STARTED ON THE ZOO TV TOUR

Here is one of my U2 stories and the inspiration of creating 1 Ticket.

It is 1992 in Los Angeles, CA and I’m in sitting in traffic on the 405 freeway driving to my first day as an intern at technology startup near LAX. Once I get there at the office, at 10AM, they tell me HR isn’t ready for me, can I come back tomorrow?

I now have a free day in LA, and ironically, my favorite band, U2, is playing at the LA Sports Arena that night. So I drive there to see if I can snag “1 Ticket” and sing along side Bono, Edge, Adam and Larry. Little did I know my life would change that night.

As I get to the LA Sports Arena around 2PM, there is already a line about 500 fans to purchase las t minute box office tickets. Naturally, the chances of me getting a ticket are impossible.

So I convince the random guy that was in front of me in line, let’s try to sneak in.

We come to a loading dock in the arena, and see some cases of Pepsi, grab a few and proceed to carry them downstairs past security. One convincing nod to the guy at the door was all it took to get inside the Sports Arena. But was it was 2PM, we had at least six hours of not only eluding security but also figuring out how do we get to the upper part of the stadium to watch the concert.

And I’m hungry.

ZOO TV TOUR EXPERIENCE PART 2

As we explore the downstairs area, we bump into a woman who asked if we were with the liquor company. Naturally we said “Yes”.

She proceed to say she is missing her alcohol for the evening and we said we would find it. Not only did it give us something to do for a few hours but it also made us look like we belonged.

Soon we found the liquor-it was on a cart. Now we just needed to find the woman.

We found her, but she soon said “I don’t know who you are , but you are not with the liquor company.” We all looked at each other, and not wanting to get kicked out, we told the whole story of sneaking in. She laughed. And then said: “You will be the waiter and the dishwasher tonight and I’ll get you tickets.”

Amazing.

About 3 hours later, I am in a room with about 50 people, serving TV dinners and pouring champaign to, wait-a-minute- Bono, Edge and Julia Roberts and whole bunch of other celebrities. I was star struck- but before I could gather my shit, the woman, who was helping us, was actually the band’s chef, soon announced to the whole room that “Eric, your waiter, snuck into your show tonight !!!” The room erupted in cheers, clapping and laughter.

And that was the beginning of my U2 adventures... ever since then I have met the most amazing and inspiring people around the world at U2 concerts.

With 1 Ticket, I want to help tell those fan stories.
